A blog is an online diary, let u jot down feelings n events dat happen in ur life.
Yet, a lot of times, i find myself unable to express fully wat i feel on this blog, on issues that may b responsible for influencing n changing pples opinions of other pple unfairly, becos they are juz based on my own somewhat inaccurate judgement. Even though i have made it a point to snuff out all names on this blog, partly oso becos i dun want pple to search for the name of a person n end up having my blog on the search list, sometimes, by questioning pple around dat knoe me quite well, one can oso get wat incident and whom im refering too. And some pple may get angry with it, angry with me for writing bad things about them despite my attempts to create annomynosity, furious with me for 'ruining pple's reputation'. Muz i paste a tag saying dat 'all these entries r but feelings of me alone n any resemblance to anyone isnt on purpose, any influential material is unintentional and is regretted' ? It makes me wonder how many of the blog out there are realli true reflections and true feelings, who knoes, maybe there are pple out there who twisted their blog juz to make it better for others. I digress.
There are those issues that are politically sensitive, issues that hover dangerously about the thin line between 'freedom of speech' and 'slander', a boundary defined by the so-called democracy which let us have 'freedom of speech up to a limit deemed fit by the government'. Somehow, opposing views of the same matter, which should in theory be granted same freedom of speech, since they are about the same things, are treated totally different; saying someone/ something is very gd very efficient may net u preferential treatment, while even constructive criticism, pointing out something dat is unjustified may land u a visit to jail or be punished for it. It has been a well-known fact dat pple dun like to hear things they dun want, yet it is often claimed by the same pple dat wat they realli want is honesty. Gd if the two can concur with one another, otherwise, the latter will almost always be displaced by the former.
Democracy has a hidden clause about freedom of speech, that summarises a large part of it--
" The extent of democracy n freedom of speech is Dictated by the government. Freedom of speech is allowed to a point where the interest n reputation of the government are not put at a risk, despite the truth n relevancy of the information. If possible, place pple under the illusion that they are granted total freedom of speech, simultaneously making issues that are potentially lethal to the government unavailable to the public; it is wise to set up a lengthy procedure for pple to express such issues, so hard that it will be almost impossible to pass thru-- at least pple cant say the government denied them a channel to air their views. Perhaps wiser is to limit the knowledge of the pple, it is of no benefit to let them know realli wat the government r doing with the state's fund/ taxpayers money, and the rationale, if any, behind the spending of these funds. For those that unfortunately knows the truth, by all means and ways, persuasive, threatening or lastly, by brute force, please shut them up." -- the zeroth clause of democracy.
I muz stress dat i am not an anti-democrat, theorectical democracy is not a bad form of goverment. It is juz dat something muz be a scapegoat for certain actions and if it is impossible to use names for political reasons, i guess the best substitute is the collective word democracy. It allows me to transform what could possibly be a slander to a view on a subject, a personal view on a government type which many scholars are debating about.
It realli is painstaking dat a blog, which shud be an open direct way of expressing ur views, shud need so much camouflage n cover to get my message across in a relatively safer way, be it the omitting of names, or the usage of metaphors, comparison, scapegoats. But luckily for me, my blog is still a true reflection of my thinking. And, to me, dat is gd enuff, at least i din change my purpose to suit the environment. =)
